Refusing the Progressive Plantation—Two Black Men in WA Speak Out Against the Left’s Attempt to Rewrite History
What does CRT have to do with Chinese "Weather" Balloons?
The other day my son asked me, “Mom, what’s a soft war?”
“It’s a slow, covert strategy to destroy a country over time, without using military to fire a single bullet.”
“How do you fight a war without bullets?” he asked.
“Words. Media. You tell a LOT of lies over a long period of time and wait for the generations who remember the truth to die out.”
“You mean like what China is doing to the US?” he asked.
“Exactly,” I answered.
My kid didn’t get this smart from school.
School is where he learns China’s lies, unfortunately. Our dinner table is where I deprogram the propaganda.
As I write this, China has a surveillance balloon hovering over US nuclear missile sites in Montana, casually recording measurements like it’s a tailor getting ready to make Biden a new suit in CCP red. How many more examples of “slow, covert strategy” do we need to see in the news this week? Never mind the truckloads of classified documents Biden gave to a Chinese-funded think tank, or the fact that Hunter finally admitted that “Oopsie, yes, that laptop containing business deals between dad and China is actually mine. Sorry, America.”
Maybe that’s why China knew we wouldn’t notice when they doubled their nuclear arsenal in the last two years. They were right. Americans were too distracted by Tik-Tok to care.
My favorite CCP war strategy of the week is The 1619 Project—a docuseries which just came out on Hulu that attempts to “reframe American history by considering 1619 as our nation’s birth year”, as described by its creator Nikole Hannah-Jones.
Hannah-Jones is a black journalist who helped create a history curriculum that has now been adopted by school districts in all 50 states, with the goal of “reimagining” America’s founding to be an arbitrary date that has connections to the settlement of Jamestown—a British-funded business project masquerading as a colony 150 years before the Declaration of Independence. The 1619 Project casually skips over the part about the pilgrims coming to America to escape indentured servitude and religious oppression, and instead focuses on a new narrative that America was and has always been the devious brainchild of white supremacists. The docuseries’ central goal: to get you to swallow the notion that the US Constitution is a “decidedly anti-democratic document”.
I can’t tell you any more, it makes me too nauseated. Watch Glenn Beck’s in-depth analysis here.
Abe Lincoln is turning over in his grave.
This tactic to pluck certain events out of history and cobble them together to make a new story is nothing new. It’s an old-school psyop, simple fifth generation warfare. I’m pretty sure my Twitter feed is teeming with posts revealing that the millions of dollars Hannah-Jones already made in speaking fees from liberal universities was originally funneled there by the CCP and George Soros. She is just a victim, a mere pawn of the Puppeteers of War. She most likely doesn’t know she’s being used. (At least that’s how I explain away such idiocy.) But don’t worry about Hannah-Jones. Being a victim is her virtue, according to the Gospel of Critical Race Theory (CRT).
Critical Race Theory and “The 1619 Project” are the CCP’s attempt to drop an atomic bomb on Democracy.
Stroll through any liberal arts college campus right now and you’ll find out that Communism has been given a hip new brand. Most of the students will say “It’s the ideal system! The only reason it didn’t work in the past is because the leaders were bad guys. In the hands of good people, Communism could work!”
I’m not exaggerating. I’ve talked to these kids and they tell me that American History curriculums in high school stop before the Viet Nam War. I took AP history classes in the 90s, but I did not learn about the Viet Nam War, either. I remember having very embarrassing conversations about Communism later in life due to this lack in education. I didn’t learn the real history until I dated a man who was a refugee from Cambodia, and I lived with his daily PTSD. He had been abandoned in the jungle as a toddler while his parents were dragged off to work camps.
Unfortunately, today’s kids think Pol Pot is a just new strain of weed.
China’s Simple 4-Step Plan to Invade America, free with Amazon Prime!
1. Blame all corruption on Capitalism and the Free Market.
2. Artificially drive-up inflation so high that the American Dream is out of reach. Dangle the carrot of Universal Basic Income and pretend to care about forgiving student loans.
3. Rebrand America’s forefathers as outdated, ignorant white supremacists. Seriously, how could the Bill of Rights still be relevant if it was written by old white guys who didn’t care about preferred pronouns and WeChat?
4. Rewrite American history and our present to be a horror story of racism apparently unique ONLY TO AMERICA, so that all future generations will fall into the all-loving arms of Xi JinPing, America’s new red-caped savior. Never mind that slave traders sold white people into the North African market at the same time they sold black people into the New World market. Slavery has affected all races at some point in history.
Will Men of Color Please Stand Up?
I’m going to stick my Caucasian neck out and suggest that one of the most effective ways Americans can fight this soft war is for people of color to stand up and call out China (and the Globalist Elites) for all the lies.
Black mothers have been calling out CRT quite a bit in the last few years at school board meetings.
Now, I pray for more black fathers to stand up and be as outspoken as the mama bears are.
Fortunately, Washington is blessed with two such men whom I’m lucky to call my friends. The first is Misipati “Semi” Bird, a black American and direct descendent of the King of Samoa, born in the projects of Oakland, CA and raised in North Seattle. Semi is running for Governor of Washington in 2024.
My other friend is Jeff Morton, raised in the ghettos of Rochester, NY and a proud Washingtonian. Jeff is a scholar on many topics, including black history and the human slavery of all races.
I respect both of these men’s experiences as a barometer for the true level of racism in America, specifically because they were born before the Civil Rights Act in 1964. They’ve experienced real racism and they’ve born witness to America cleaning up its act.
Let’s tell the truth. If racism was a cancer, America is nearly in remission.
Why aren’t we celebrating this victory, instead of standing by and watching CRT and The 1619 Project artificially inject cancer back into the collective body?
Semi calls these liberal agendas the “progressive plantation”. He believes that CRT is just another tool to subjugate people of color. I’m going to challenge him on that assertion. I think CRT is subjugating all races. Not only is it cementing victimhood into the minds of all children of color, but it’s also killing the spirit of white children by convincing them they were born guilty—a new sick twist on “original sin”.
Last year Semi ran for school board in the Tri-Cities in Washington, and he took a strong stand against his school district teaching CRT. But his opponent wasn’t going to let Semi off the plantation so easily. A small-time blogger who aligned with his opponent attempted to find dirt in his past to use against him in the campaign.
She never found any dirt, so she lied and made something up from a misinterpreted, 40-year-old military report. Inadvertently, she brought to light one of the best stories to illustrate the power of a black American overcoming the victim narrative.
But she didn’t tell the story. So, I get to.
It bears repeating (as Semi told it to me), because the false story got passed around among Washington Progressives like an old piece of carcass among vultures.
Do you want the dirt on Semi Bird? Here it is. (yes, that’s clickbait)
It was 1984 and Semi was a 23-year-old Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps, stationed in Hawaii. His sergeant was a white guy who was constantly giving Semi a hard time about his race. To put it plainly, this guy was a classic racist a-hole. Semi didn’t use those words to describe him because he’s too classy. I, on the other hand, am not that classy.
One day Semi showed up for duty to his office a few minutes late. The sergeant took the opportunity to yell at him, sparing no amount of racist language. Semi asked him to stop yelling and the sergeant got ticked off and grabbed him around the neck, going for his throat.
Imagine you’re a highly trained, 23-year-old marine being held in a chokehold by a guy who’s been treating you like a second-class citizen because you’ve got more melanin than he does. What would you do?
Fight back, or go limp?
Semi fought back. (And I’m glad. I want a governor with backbone). To this day, he can’t remember if he decked the guy or just pushed him off. But he did what he had to do to get out of that chokehold. He said the other guys in the room broke it apart and the whole altercation was over in a matter of seconds.
What came next is what Ms. Tri-Cities Blogger got ahold of. But she twisted the story to suit her needs—like a little psyop of our own, right here in Washington.
Semi was charged with striking a sergeant. Under US Code Article 15 Commanding Officers Non-Judicial Punishment (NJP), the military has an in-house system for dealing with scrappy boys who fight. It allows unit commanders to hand out punishment without involving the court. If every marine who threw a punch was court-martialed, there would be no one left to serve in the military. Men trained to fight will practice on each other.
Based on past experiences, Semi was afraid that his Commander would side with his senior sergeant and dole out a harsher punishment.
Semi knew that he had the right, under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, to request a trial and have a lawyer tell his side of the story. Our Constitution protected his right to ask for this trial.
Did the military impose court martial on him for his actions, as Ms. Tri-Cities Blogger implied? No, he requested trial by court (court martial) for an infraction that the Marines would have typically dealt with in-house. A local newspaper in Hawaii that tracked military punishments back in the 1980s noted that Lance Corporal Bird was court-martialed for “disrespect to a superior NCO and unlawfully striking an NCO.” Ms. Tri-Cities Blogger grabbed that little nugget from the 1980s in an attempt to tarnish Semi’s reputation. She ultimately, wrote two scathing blogs that have now materialized into a state-wide rumor that “something awful happened in his past”.
Oh my….how tongues wag
I’ve asked people who heard the “rumor” if they actually knew any details. No one knew a thing, but that didn’t stop them from talking about it—whatever “it” was.
In the end, Semi did get his requested day in court. But his senior officers didn’t take kindly to being called out and his sentence was harsher than it would have been had he just taken the non-judicial punishment. He also would have never ended up being named in the newspaper.
Mama Didn’t Raise A Victim
Had young Semi been raised with Critical Race Theory and Hulu shows that rewrite American history, he could have spent those three weeks in jail nursing his identity as a victim and planning to quit the military.
Thankfully, his mama taught him better than that.
He went back to the unit, earned a promotion, and finished his tour of duty with an honorable discharge. Then in 2001, at the age of 40, he enlisted in the Washington Army National Guard. With multiple deployments as a Special Forces Engineer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and more, he would later serve as a leader in Special Forces Intelligence with a Top Secret SCI (Sensitive Compartmented Information) clearance. In 2006 he went into reserve status to serve in the US Department of Energy with a Q- SCI clearance.
“Eryn, these are the highest security clearances you can hold in the military. It’s so serious that the FBI tears apart your whole life before giving it to you. I had to go through periodic polygraph tests and investigations to make sure I was always worthy of such a clearance, and I held it for 15 years before retiring in 2015,” he told me.
“I’m tired of people using the lessons we’ve learned to feed the beast of progressivism. I was a black man born without Civil Rights, yet I have served this country with distinction and I have achieved the American dream. I kept the 1980s in context, took my punishment and grew past it. It was a difficult time but it did not define who I was or who I would eventually become.”
White Girl Dares Ask…
I asked Semi something I ask a lot of black people. “Do you see systemic racism in your life today, in 2023?”
“No,” he said without hesitation. “I don’t see it at all anymore. Even though I know racism still exists in some people, it’s nowhere in comparison to where it was when I was a young man.”
Growing up in North Seattle in the late 60s, Semi was spat upon, called a ‘coon, and the “N” word. When he was 6 years-old he was the only black kid in an entirely white neighborhood. His playmate was a little white boy who lived down the street. This white child was told by his mother that Semi was allowed to come over, but only allowed in the yard and not in the house, because he was black.
Now if you ever get a chance to meet Semi you can easily imagine that he was probably the cutest darn kid you’d ever seen, and most assuredly a well-mannered charmer. Naturally he won over that racist mama and was eventually allowed in the house. But no kindergartener should have to go through that, ever.
Jeff Says Systemic Racism is a Catch Phrase
“Jeff, how would you define systemic racism?” I asked my scholarly friend, Jeff Morton—who is also a fan of Semi’s.
“It’s a lie,” he said.
That is a bold statement coming from a melanin-blessed man. But Jeff is a bold guy. When I first met him he was wearing a bright red “White Lives Matter” t-shirt and a very big smile.
“A society that is systemically racist wouldn’t have booted slavery out of its country. Systemic racism is a catch phrase designed to divide Americans against each other,” Jeff said.
When I asked him if he felt there was a connection between CRT and the CCP he didn’t hesitate.
“Without a doubt. BLM, CRT, and The 1619 Project are funded by Marxist groups that are well hidden in the shadows. It’s almost exactly like what Mao did. He used the culture of division to capture the citizenry. That is what all Communist programs do—they try to turn the youth against the leadership. The reality is the US Military is extremely powerful. China knows that to get into an armed conflict with the United States is a big mistake. Millions would die on both sides. The war has to be covert.”
Jeff continued, “China dumps tons of money into college campuses to pervert the history. And far too many people will not open a book to find out why this nation is so different from others. The founding of America was the first time in the history of the planet where the citizens were the voice of the nation.”
Jeff tells a great story about schooling a young man on white privilege in this video.
Another Good Mama Makes All the Difference
“My mother raised 7 children and she would not allow racist conversation in her presence, under any circumstance. One day I was coming home from school and I got jumped by two white brothers, Chuckie and Stevie. I got the better of them. But when I got home, my mother took one look at me and asked me what happened. I answered, ‘Well, these two Honkies came after me…’ She heard that come out of my mouth and she smacked me. ‘What did you say?’, she asked me. I proceeded, ‘Well, these two crackers came after me…’, And then she smacked me again! ‘You will address them by their names in this house!’ she said.”
Jeff lived through the race riots when MLK and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated. He saw the police drive up in his neighborhood in “paddywagons” full of German shepherds that looked like they were trained to attack black people. He heard all the gunshots and the mayhem, but he said as a kid he didn’t understand it because he was taught a different story from his mother.
“My mother taught me that I didn’t want to be stereotyped as a victim. As I studied about Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas Jr, and some of the other black and white folks who fought for freedom, I knew I wanted to grow up to be like them. I have never represented slavery, but rather freedom!”
Jeff continued, “There’s something that Semi and I have in common with a lot of other black Americans--we’re not victims. But the problem is that our culture today holds up victimhood like it’s a badge of honor.”
Back then I had an advantage—George Junior Republic, a school I was sent to as a juvenile delinquent. I used to steal cars, but the juvenile court decided I was too smart to be sent to jail. George Junior Republic was a school founded in the early 1900’s by William George, that removed a bunch of New York gangs out of the city life and relocated them into the rural life. This place was a game changer for me. I was lumped into an environment of predominantly white kids from wealthy broken homes.”
“A lot of the stories I was told by those white kids were 1000 times worse than anything I’d gone through. Most of those kids were thrown away by their parents. They had problems that money could afford and I had problems that money couldn’t afford. But we all had problems.”
When Jeff came back to the ghetto after 4 years at George Junior Republic, he decided to leave the progressive plantation.
“I am an American who happens to be black. So I studied the Constitution. I am not a son of Africa. Most of the black people I know have never even been to Africa. And literally ALL of the Africans I know are offended that we call ourselves African Americans. One African lady said to me, ‘The black person in America is more involved with anger than education. We in Africa believe in education. We come to America for the education, but the typical black person in America is more concerned with anger than education.’ Those were her words, not mine.”
Semi and Jeff believe in education. They both fought alongside me for the rights of parents and students in Washington during the pandemic.
Wrap it up, Eryn…
My dear readers, I think the moral of these two mens’ stories is that, as parents, we need to be as vigilant about teaching our children the truth as Semi’s and Jeff’s mamas were about teaching them.
I keep thinking about the mother of that little white boy who Semi played with as a kindergartener. I sure hope she’s still alive so she can vote for Semi in the 2024 race for Governor of Washington.
And I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that if Semi saw her today, he’d walk right up to her and wrap her in a big hug, without any resentment over the past. If she’s alive today, there’s a good chance she has spiritually healed from the racist cancer of the past, just like the rest of the country nearly has.
And that is something to celebrate.
China, you can try to commandeer this country, but I doubt you’ll succeed in the end. America may be weak. We may be broken in some places.
But we were born exceptional, and we will stay exceptional.
*P.S. My supersmart mama sent me this video of Pastor Jack Hibbs giving a well-informed and sometimes funny snapshot of the relationship we have with China and its nosy surveillance balloons. He’s a great speaker. It’s worth a listen.
Love your writing, as always Eryn. Aren’t testimonies amazing to read and listen to….FIRST HAND! Glad you were able to cabosh the mom blog that likes to continue to twist the truth! You exposed them! Thank you for publishing this. I am passing on, on course. We need your voice, Eryn.
Ballsy and brilliant! Lots of aha moments here.... thank you for your voice.
